Ground handler WFS has signed up to join Brussels Airport Cargo's (BRUcargo) ‘digital green lane' initiative that requires a completely paperless process for trucking operations at the hub.
The digital green lane initiative brings together the various apps – such as truck slot booking and documentation products – developed by cargo community software firm Nallian to ensure that all processes at the airport for cargo pick-up and drop-off are entirely paperless.
While companies have been able to achieve paperless operations by using the apps of their own accord, the scheme mandates their use in order for services to be classified as a digital green lane.
“By adopting BRUcargo Digital Green Lane, forwarders and trucking companies will have clear advantages like priority access and transparency throughout the landside process. In return, ground handling agents have the opportunity to closely manage their gate capacity, to adjust their personnel planning, to proactively prepare import pick-ups and to start the preparation of a departing flight sooner,” said Han Van Steenwinkel, digital green lane co-ordinator at cargo community Air Cargo Belgium.
Koen Gouweloose, managing director, Belgium, at WFS, said: “WFS is keen to participate in and support digital solutions which improve customer experience and the overall efficiency of our operations. Brucloud is already making a significant difference to the way the air cargo community in Brussels works together and provides a win-win scenario for all stakeholders.”
David Bellon, chairman of Air Cargo Belgium, added: “Air Cargo Belgium looks forward to collaborating with WFS and its customers to implement the green lane processes and improve efficiency and quality for all stakeholders in the community.”
Last year, WFS was one of a number of companies at the airport to being using a new Road Feeder Management App to offer flexible slots for cargo drop-offs and collections by Road Feeder Services operators which can shift in time according to the estimated time of arrival sent by the truck driver.
