Airfreight specialist Sinotrans Global E-commerce Logistics is the latest firm to join the Air France KLM Martinair Cargo (AFKLMP) Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) programme.
Through the arrangement, the Sinotrans-owned company will offer a “green route” on Hangzhou-Amsterdam flights.
AFKLMP said that its SAF Programme enables shippers and forwarders to a share of their flights with sustainable aviation fuel, which could reduce CO2 emissions by up to 85%.
The companies said the agreement follows on from the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the start of the year to further promote cross-border e-commerce and contribute to promoting Sino-Dutch and Sino-European trade cooperation.
The two companies have conducted “in-depth discussions on multiple business initiatives, such as capacity contracts from Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Hangzhou, cross-docking, system connectivity and data exchange”.
Earlier this week, five more companies — all based in East Asia —joined AFKLMP Cargo's SAF programme.
