IAG Cargo has resumed services to and from Tokyo, following disruption caused by the pandemic.

Tokyo, the carrier said, is a key exporter of pharma goods, which can be “moved seamlessly” with its Constant Climate cold chain service, which was specially designed to process time- and temperature-sensitive pharma products.

IAG Cargo said that last year, the route played an important role in supporting the British Museum to transport more than 200 special items from Japan for a manga exhibition, with the help of the carrier’s Secure product.

Alec Rayner, area commercial manager for Japan and Korea at IAG Cargo, said: “Japan is an important part of our network and we are pleased to be re-opening London Heathrow-Tokyo Haneda for our customers.

“The route is vital for them to stay connected with their trading partners worldwide, allowing the movement of Japanese pharmaceuticals, automotive and manufacturing goods to reach hundreds of destinations.”

IAG Cargo resumed regular services from London Heathrow to to key African destinations — Abuja, Accra Cairo, Lagos and Cape Town — following an announcement of plans to kickstart the services in August.
