To support the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic, UPS has increased its efforts in its work with the US President’s Coronavirus Taskforce, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and State health agencies.
As part of these increased efforts, UPS and UPS Healthcare are working in collaboration with numerous businesses in the public and private sectors.
Today, UPS announced that it has stepped up its collaboration with FEMA and will provide supply chain services for the agency’s distribution of essential materials for healthcare workers — including respirators, medical masks, personal protective equipment (PPE) and gloves — across the US.
As part of the partnership, FEMA will gain access to UPS’s Worldport facilities in Louisville for the handling of critical shipments from overseas.
UPS chairman and chief executive, David Abney, explained: “UPS’s dedicated people, global network and public-private partnerships are creating a powerful combination for rapid deployment of protective equipment and test kits throughout the US and around the world.
“UPS Healthcare has the expertise and experience to move vital, life-saving medicines, medical devices, diagnostic specimens and supplies everywhere they are needed.”
