Logistics and ground handling business Saudi Arabian Logistics (SAL) has expanded its pharma facility at the King Fahad International Airport (KFIA) Cargo Village.
SAL said it enhanced the quality of its medical storage space with new temperature control equipment and devices — all of which meet EU GDP standards — as well as installing “efficient safety systems to prevent risks”.
The facility now covers an area of 542 sq m (previously 118 sq m) and has an annual operational capacity of up to 14,000 tonnes.
A 262 sq m area is dedicated to storing goods between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and another area of the same size is available for storing goods between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.
Omar Hariri, SAL chief executive, commented: “We are creating the proper environment and developing the infrastructure needed for the current period, which has seen an increasing demand on pharma and medical equipment during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
